The Om has a very strong symbolism. Om is the syllable which represents the original sound, from which the Universe would have structured. In Buddhism and Hinduism, the Om precedes many mantras (prayers), serving as a support for meditation.

In yoga, Om is used to channel the mind and refocus on its practice, at the beginning and at the end of sessions.

In meditation the Om, brings the right vibration. The Om allows you to rest your attention on the sound and inner vibration, to let thoughts pass.

Om is also written Aum. The three syllables of the AUM symbolizes: -
Ah = present
O (AU) = past
M = future

Om represents the 4 natural elements:
le feu
the air
Earth
