In essential oil (extracted from twigs), rosewood has many qualities: antibacterial, antiviral, antiparasitic, antifungal and aphrodisiac. In external use, rosewood helps treat fatigue, stress, depression, ear infections, sleep disorders.

Rosewood, also called Sheesham, is present in the foothills of the Himalayas in southern India. This species
has been introduced in Burma, Nepal, Nigeria, and Kenya.
