Material of our men's rings
Our rings are made of 925 silver. Silver jewelry, in Europe and in most countries in the world, is made of 925 silver. It is 1st grade silver, it has a minimum content of 92,5%. It is also what we call sterling silver, from the English Sterling Silver 925. Sterling silver, for example, is made up of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. Sterling silver is a category of silver for jewelry in many countries, and has been since the 14th century.
Thai money is often purer than the world standard. It often contains 95 at 98% money, which allows a different job of money. Because purer silver is softer and more malleable, Thai silver jewelry is usually thicker.
Our men's silver rings are in brushed, polished, or hammered silver. The design of our Thai jewelry is modern, while having an ethnic touch.
Where are our men's silver rings made?
Our silver men's rings are entirely handmade by artisans from the Karen tribes. This ethnic group is located in the northwest of Thailand, near Chiang Mai. This hilly region, close to the Burmese border, is the land of the Karen tribes, renowned for their expertise in weaving and making silver jewelry. The Karen migrated a long time ago from Burma and brought their own traditional know-how. All our silver men's rings are manufactured and sold in accordance with fair trade.
Fon & Lek's workshop
Lek's workshop is located in the north of Thailand, near the Burmese border. I first met Fon and Lek in Bangkok, because they go there to do the market. Believe it or not, communication was initially very complicated, because the Thais are not that English-speaking! Through gestures and time we ended up understanding each other. I've been to northern Thailand a few times and the creativity, colors and ingenuity found there are incredible.
