Origin of Omyoki women's earrings
Our gold earrings come from India. More precisely, from the heart of Rajasthan. Indeed, we go to this incredible country every year to work with our artisan partners on new models.
The material of your gold jewelry
Omyoki makes a point of honor to offer quality jewelry. Our golden creations are made with quality and treated brass. We have chosen not to gold plate our golden jewelry. Indeed, the plating deteriorates quickly and we prefer that our jewelry lasts over time. In addition, brass is a material with a pretty gold color. It is an alloy of pink copper and gray zinc, with a natural matte yellow color that gives it a slight vintage look. Like silver, brass oxidizes on contact with air and over time. Oxidation is a surface phenomenon and it is easy to get rid of it. However, simply clean your gold jewelry with lemon to keep it shiny. To learn more, follow our interview guide.
Contrary to popular belief, brass is not allergenic. In fact, it is very rare for people to be allergic to this metal. In reality, it is the presence of nickel, in large quantities, that poses a problem and caused a scandal years ago, before there was any real regulation of the composition of jewelry.
Fine stones
The semi-precious stones of our jewelry, also called fine stones or gems, come largely from India and peripheral countries. Thus, you will find a lot of turquoise, moonstone, labradorite, rose quartz and natural agates. For each creation, particular attention has been paid to the choice of stones and finishes, in order to offer quality and lasting gold jewelry.
Fair trade
Omyoki follows the Fair Trade Charter. Our jewelry is created to support the hard work of small workshops, women's groups, or the work of local artists in developing countries. Indeed, our goal is to provide work in areas less favored than ours and to improve the lives of artists and their families.
Also, each workshop is visited beforehand, to check the working conditions, the quality of life and the fair remuneration of the artisans. This is how a personal relationship is woven with each artisan, around countless teas and spending hours discussing, as is proper in Asian countries.
