The properties of dendritic opal

The term dendrite and the qualifier dendritic come from the Greek “dendron” which means “tree”. Scientifically in the field of gems, it is used to refer to a crystal having a development in the form of multiple ramifications, also known by the more familiar term of arborescence.

Most dendritic opals come from deposits in Australia and Madagascar. The Madagascar deposit was only discovered in 2008.

In lithotherapy, dendritic opal is a stone of protection, which provides a feeling of calm and inner peace. With a feminine dominance, it is a stone that helps to stay connected with the Earth while encouraging growth and evolution.
